The Postnatal Pilates class is run by the Pelvic Physiotherapist and APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) Master Trainer in Women’s Health. This is a wise investment in musculoskeletal recovery post-birth and gradual, safe return to more endurance and high impact based activities.
The Pilates class will work in line with physiological changes in the postpartum period and address the abdominal and pelvic floor recovery following childbirth. Pelvic floor exercises are an integral part of the class and new mums will be educated in pelvic health and breastfeeding.
Specifically chosen Pilates exercises will aim to enhance the healing times and motivate new mothers to commit to exercise by overcoming one of the most known barriers to exercise – childcare! Babies are part of this class up to their crawling stage, and breastfeeding and changing nappies are just part of the workout.
Pre-class screening is essential! All new mums will be assessed, monitored and guided in cases of pelvic floor dysfunction, Rectus Diastasis (abdominal muscle separation) as well as back and pelvic pain.
It’s fun and full of fit growing babies and empowered, happier mums!
